About the English Doraemon dub...

...which is about to premiere in less than a month, here's my analysis on what to expect.
Edits: Most of you are aware of the edits on the American dub in order to westernize a Japanese show set in Tokyo. Apart from the "chopsticks to forks and knives" and the "yens to dollars" edits, Japan has a lot of stuff that TV Tropes calls it as "getting crap past the radar". I watched some 80's Doraemon episodes on Canal Panda recently and there are serious issues that need to be cut off. The focal point is the following: when Nobita wants to go to Shizuka's house, she is taking her bath! This is close to pornography! The FCC would not allow such a thing! Anyway, this is getting waaay too sensitive.
Let's get to the most puzzling part: the names. Those names are not new, they're frrom the AltJapan translation of the manga:

Nobita = Noby
Opinion: And they didn't change his surname! Noby Nobi. How ridiculous. It sounds more or less like Candy Candy, the name of an anime which repeats the name of the titular character twice.
I wonder what will be his son's name... Nobie Noby Nobi?
Reason of change: The translators thought that Nobita was too... female. I never understood the "ta" in Nobita and I was never aware of how female it was.

Suneo = Sneech
Opinion: Sneech as in "Hey! My uncle bought a rare car! It hasn't been released yet! Only ten of these exist in the whole world!"
Reason of change: Suneo sounds more like "snail" in the English language. It also sounds like a typical Japanese man who tries to learn English and fails miserably.

Giant = Big G
Opinion: Is Giant too scary? Is this mafia training for five-year olds? Also, will his real name change?
Reason of change: Presumably so. (except for that mafia training part)

Shizuka = Sue
Opinion: What may be a clean version of Shizuka: just by changing the name. And by clean, I understand "removing her baths scenes from the American dub".
Reason of change: For me, AltJapan claimed that Shizuka sounds too... Asian for typical American viewers of the anime.

Dokodemo Door = Anywhere Door
Opinion: Ah, the pink door that is a miracle of teleporting. It's probably the second best name coined for the manga and the anime. Way better than what we and Spain call it: the "magic door".
Reason of change: Imagination rush.

Dorayakis = Yummy Buns
Opinion: Sounds like the name a typical five year-old could give to stuff like what Doraemon is eating in the photo. Also known as the "fudgy pudgy pie", with similar reasons to the Yummy Buns.
Reason of change: Asian sounding, maybe?

Takecopter = Hopter
Opinion: The miracle of flying, everybody. The best translated name from the manga.
Reason of change: see "Dokodemo Door = Anywhere Door"
Anyway, how will the voices sound like once Disney releases a video containing a few seconds of the Viz Media dub? We'll just have to find out!
